(ABC 6 News) — Hundreds of the nation’s top military commanders met at a Marine Corps base in Virginia on Tuesday for a last-minute meeting. While there, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced new military standards. Hegseth slammed the so-called “woke” culture, arguing all promotions should be merit-based, and women must meet the same fitness tests as men. Hegseth will also restructure the Inspector Genera’s Office, which is investigating Hegseth’s use of the messaging app, Signal, to relay classified information.
