Capital in the pink…The Shard will be illuminated in pink today to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Organisers say the gesture is intended to raise awareness of breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection, education and research funding. The Shangri-La Hotel will host a “Clouds of Pink” afternoon tea at TĪNG, pink-themed cocktails at GŎNG bar, and a “Pink Sky” brunch at Sky Lounge. Elsewhere in the building, Oblix restaurant will launch a pink edition of its afternoon tea, with donations made to Breast Cancer Now for every booking. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK, with one in seven women estimated to be diagnosed in their lifetime.
