Mr Kalaluka disclosed that Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Jack Mwiimbu, inaugurated the project at Meheba Settlement in Kalumbila District, Northwestern Province, on Tuesday, 30 September 2025. Speaking at the launch, Mr Mwiimbu emphasised the project’s significance as a transformative initiative with a clear goal to improve access to socio-economic opportunities for both refugees and host communities. Mr Mwiimbu noted that the project seeks to unlock the potential for self-reliance, economic development, and social inclusion by addressing long-standing challenges. She said the initiative will benefit both refugees and host communities adding that the project is a significant step forward in supporting vulnerable populations. “This project will strengthen the enabling environment, climate-resilient community infrastructure, and support to agribusiness and livelihoods,” said Achim Fock, World Bank Country Manager for Zambia,” she added.
