The man died in California, USA, while detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In 2025, three Mexican immigrants died in ICE facilities, with causes ranging from medical neglect to suicide. One recent case involved Miguel Ángel García Hernández, a 32-year-old Mexican detainee who died after being injured during a shootout at an ICE facility in Dallas.
