Construction of the Animal Welfare Hospital will begin in a month and a half in Cancún. The new animal welfare hospital will have operating rooms that can treat up to eight dogs or cats simultaneously. The Municipality of Benito Juárez approved the construction of the first phase of the Animal Welfare Hospital with an investment of 30 million pesos. The mayor said they have worked closely with civil associations focused on animal welfare, who are contributing their expertise to this project, which will be located on López Portillo Avenue, where the municipal slaughterhouse previously stood. Construction work will continue throughout 2026, and the official inauguration date is still to be announced by the Benito Juárez authorities.
