The boil water advisory was lifted in Novi Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 30, but remains in effect for Wixom, Commerce Township, Walled Lake and a small portion of Wolverine Lake. Residents began boiling tap water or using bottled water after a 42-inch main broke on 14 Mile Road near M-5 in Novi early Thursday, Sept. 25. Following two rounds of negative bacteria testing, Novi lifted the boil advisory, according to a release from the Great Lakes Water Authority, which owns and operates the broken main. You can use tap water to bathe, but do not allow it to get in your mouth, eyes or nose. If you have a private well, you do not need to boil water or restrict usage.
