Alleged cable thief shot mid-act on Regent StreetKaieteur News – The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred Monday night on Regent Street, Bourda, Georgetown. According to police, the victim has been identified as Quacy Jandoo, a 38-year-old unemployed man of no fixed place of abode. Jandoo sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh and is presently hospitalised in stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Police said Weekes claimed that when he challenged Jandoo, the man pulled a cutlass from his waist and attacked him. The company had confirmed that copper vandalism has surged in 2025, now responsible for nearly half of all service interruptions.
