There were three fires in two incidents at the much-loved wildlife site during the weekend. All of the fires were put out quickly and no-one was harmed, confirmed Essex Fire and Rescue Service. “All credit to Essex country fire service for such a quick response which helps prevent further damage." A MOD spokesperson said: "We take our responsibility as a landowner extremely seriously and we are concerned by any risk of wildfire across the estate. "We will continue to manage the site in a way which minimises the risk of fires spreading, engaging with statutory and local conservation bodies as required."
