Historic local battle commemorated with unique display on 1200th anniversary

While historians debate the exact location, evidence suggests the battle took place either at Wroughton or Lydiard Tregoze, both close to today’s Lydiard Park estate.
The exhibition runs from September 20 to October 22 at The Coach House, Lydiard Park, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is free; there is a parking charge for Lydiard Park.
She said: “A truly inspiring visit to the Battle of Ellendun Exhibition at The Coach House, Lydiard Park today!
“This project, funded by West Swindon Parish Council and supported by the Friends of Lydiard Park, showcases amazing local talent with 800 hand-painted figures and beautiful embroidered panels.
