The event was marked by the presence of three dedicated museum volunteers, David Eastoe, Peter Brumby, and Rob Tibbits, who collectively boasted nearly 120 years of service.
Managing director of Virgin Trains East Coast, David Horne, highlighted the significant role the museum had played in boosting York's tourism over the past four decades.
He noted that the city now attracted seven million visitors annually, many of whom traveled by train, contributing to 19,000 jobs in the area.
Mr Horne also mentioned that the locomotive had previously been named after the museum in 1985 to commemorate the NRM's 10th anniversary.
The volunteers expressed their passion for trains and their commitment to the museum.
