Urgent need for care reformAt the full Highland Council meeting (September 18) I raised urgent concerns highlighted in the Chief Social Work Officer’s Annual Report 2024/25. The figures speak for themselves: 204 care home beds lost since 2022; 2980 care hours unmet each week; 43 people delayed in hospital waiting for care. As Highland Older People's Champion, I believe we must act now. Every time you choose Fairtrade, you are acting in solidarity with farmers who grow your food. This Fairtrade Fortnight we will be taking part in Fairtrade Coffee mornings and community events, lighting the Ness Bridge in characteristic Fairtrade Green and Blue colours, showcasing Fairtrade products in several cafes and spreading the word where we can.
