Twyford Waterworks, one of the best-preserved Edwardian pumping stations in the country, will host the event on Sunday, September 7 to celebrate more than a century of supplying clean water to the region. A spokesperson for Twyford Waterworks said: "Throughout the day much of the site will be brought to life with demonstrations, displays, and explanations from our knowledgeable volunteers. Historic waterworks invites public behind the scenes of its machinery (Image: Twyford Waterworks) Other historic engines will also be in operation, including the 90-year-old Ruston diesel pumps and the 1895 Crossley gas engine. Refreshments will be available from the waterworks’ tea room, which will serve homemade cakes, drinks, and light snacks. The site is largely level, but access to the kilns, industrial railway, and nature trail involves steps due to the sloped terrain.
