The scheme aiming to make roads safer in Romsey has been floated by town councillors for more than a year, despite cost estimates rising from £20,000 to a current £70,000. "Personally, I would be uncomfortable spending that much money, it's a lot of money for a lot of road signs. However, Romsey Town Mayor, Cllr Russell Theron disputed fellow civic chiefs statements, highlighting its importance for residents and how safety has no price. The speed limits are proposed on roads including; The Hundred, Broadwater Road, Palmerston Street, Bell Sreet, Church Street, Cherville Street and Greatbridge Road. Middlebridge Street, Mill Lane, Priestlands, Portersbridge Street, Latimer Street, Station Road and Duttons Rd South, are also eligible for the limits.
