On Saturday, (September 20) at around 3:30pm, a lane closure was enforced on the M5 southbound between Junction 24 (North Petherton) and Junction 25 (Taunton). A vehicle had caught fire, and it has now been confirmed as '90 per cent' destroyed. A spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire control received multiple calls to a vehicle on fire on the M5 southbound carriageway just north of Taunton. "Once crews arrived, they confirmed 1 pick-up vehicle was well alight. "Crews fully extinguished the fire, which caused 90 per cent fire damage to the vehicle.
