Diana Cooper, an Anglo-French pianist, played at St John’s Church as part of the LISZT in Taunton 1840 piano recital series. The concert was a preparation for the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, next month, for which she has been selected. The performance attracted an audience of 200 people, including Gideon Amos, the Liberal Democrat MP for Taunton and Wellington. Mr Amos was seen in conversation with Ms Cooper after the performance and even helped to move the grand piano. Three more are scheduled for 2026, including a performance by a finalist of the 2025 International Leeds Piano Competition.
