Harry Tribble narrowly came out on top with 184 votes after a close Chard Town Council poll for the Jocelyn ward - which took place on Thursday, September 18. Mr. Tribble narrowly beat Liberal Democrat Daniel Elsom, who received 176 votes, closely followed by Independent candidate Jeanette Orchard, who received 152 votes. After the results were announced, the Yeovil Reform branch said on their Facebook account: “We're thrilled to announce that Harry Tribble has won the Jocelyn ward by-election, making him the first elected Reform UK town councillor in Somerset. “Harry is looking forward to representing the Jocelyn ward on Chard Town Council and wanted to thank all those that put their trust in him today.”Councillor Bente Height, group leader of the Reform UK party in Somerset Council said: "As the group leader of the Reform UK party in Somerset Council I will say congratulations to Harry Trimble and wish him welcome to the council. "It’s fantastic times and great to see it happening."
