Stratton Land Ltd. had been constructing the Exmoor Gate housing development, comprising 69 homes on the southern side of the A39 Porlock Road in Minehead, on the fridges of the Exmoor National Park. Councillor Marcus Kravis, who represents the neighbouring Dunster division, has now called on Somerset Council to purchase the development site, completing the properties and offering them as council houses to local residents. He said: "There's a big development in Minehead at the moment, on Hopcott Road - the developer's gone bust, we don't know what they're doing. The council has been working with Classic Builders to deliver new council properties on Seaward Way in Minehead, with priority being given to existing residents of the town or those with a "strong connection" to the local area. He said in his written report: "At our new housing development in Minehead, officers have let a total of 32 homes.
