On Sunday, September 21, Mendip Neighbourhood Police Officers noted a “suspicious vehicle” in the centre of Shepton Mallet which they confirmed was believed to be involved in recent thefts. Whilst searching the vehicle, two men carrying items of clothing ran from officers who gave chase. Officers said that after detaining one male, the second was quickly located hiding inside a nearby garage along with a female. A Somerset and Avon Police spokesman confirmed all three were arrested with one male recalled to prison, one further arrested for four outstanding thefts and 'remanded to court'. The vehicle was also seized and removed from the road.
