Out of 4.4 lakh sqm allocated, over 3.5 lakh sqm is wetland, Shirodkar said. “The government has not taken anyone into confidence, not even me as the chairman, nor the panchayat,” Shirodkar said at a press conference in Panaji on Monday. He alleged that the government is trying to marginalise the Scheduled Caste (SC) community in the area. “If the Unity Mall comes up, we will be sandwiched between sewage from the migrants on one side and from the Unity Mall on the other. Are we expected to live with all this filth?”Shirodkar said that they are not fighting for personal gain, but for their village.
