There are growing concerns that living in the capitol of Texas has become unaffordable. Travis County is pushing forward with a nine-percent property tax hike as a way to pay for damage caused by the July flooding. Matt Mackowiak with the group Save Austin Now says, on top of that, the Austin City Council wants to hike taxes by 20-percent to pay for pet projects. He says it’s time for some belt-tightening instead of what he called tax-and-spend policies.
