The city of Detroit is implementing a unique approach to help residents get back on the job. The goal is simple: the city wants to pay residents to get jobs. "We will pay these organizations up to $2,200 a client for folks they reach," Duggan said. "You have to show that you have a track record of reaching out and helping people that are poor or long-term unemployed," Duggan said. Among the offers are paying qualified residents to complete literacy training and other workshops in order to enter the workforce.
