YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley is inviting schools, businesses, churches and community organizations to participate in its annual Socktober campaign, a monthlong effort to collect new undergarments for individuals staying at the shelter. “During Socktober at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, we’re reminded that dignity starts with the basics,” said Jack Trickett, chief support officer at the rescue mission. Every item given is a step toward hope for one of our guests.”In 2024, the rescue mission provided shelter to 1,198 men, women and children.
