A group of young players from Enniskillen Rugby Club had a memorable experience travelling to Twickenham for the Women’s Rugby World Cup final. One player, Amy Nelson, proudly carried the base of the World Cup, representing the Enniskillen club and the wider community. The final was a thrilling contest, with Canada performing strongly but narrowly losing to hosts England in a match that highlighted the excitement and skill of women’s rugby. An advert shown during the Rugby World Cup depicted the moment Emily Valentine became the first known woman to play rugby. Tommy Dane, President of Enniskillen Rugby Football Club, said: "Our women’s rugby teams are a thriving and important part of the club community, and our youngsters relished the chance to recreate a seminal moment for female players in the game’s history.
