El Sancho Taco Shop, a pioneer in Bend’s food truck scene when it launched in 2010, is embracing a transformation, soon to come at its taco shop on Galveston Avenue. This winter, El Sancho Taco Shop West will become Run Around Sue Barbecue, a collaboration between owners Jon Barvels and Joel Cordes and the restaurant’s kitchen manager of eight years, Asa Kenney. The announcement by the restaurant came three months behind its taco shop on Bend’s east side held its grand reopening after rebuilding from a devastating fire in 2024. Barvels said the El Sancho team is looking forward to a change and the creativity involved. Barvels described it as similar to the existing taco shop, but with a Tex-Mex style.
