Work is taking place north of Cockburnspath this evening, as well on Friday and next Monday (October 6), while the westbound (northbound) section of the road north of Innerwick Junction will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
The project, led by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland, will see 0.8 kilometres of carriageway resurfaced to improve road conditions for motorists.
Convoy control will be in place from 7.30pm to 6am on September 30, October 3, and October 6, while the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight on October 1 and 2.
During the overnight closures, westbound traffic will be diverted between Berwick-upon-Tweed and the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass.
The diversion route follows the A6105 towards Duns, the A697 at Greenlaw and the A68 at Carfraemill Roundabout, before rejoining the A1 at Old Craighall Roundabout.
