Locals in the Norfolk village created a life-sized effigy of energy secretary Ed Miliband, which they hung from a gibbet and bashed with cricket bats. The display was part of a demonstration against plans to create a huge solar farm on surrounding countryside. The effigy bore a sign which said that "any similarity with someone involved in deciding the future of your village is purely coincidental". Because of its size, the final decision on whether it will go ahead will be made by Mr Miliband. Developers RWE say High Grove will generate 720MW of clean energy, which would be enough to power about 363,000 typical UK households.
