DAMASCUS, Syria,— Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said the effort to unify his country after more than a decade of war must come through dialogue rather than force, rejecting partition and accusing Israel of interference in the south.
“We still face another battle — to unify Syria,” Sharaa told community leaders from Idlib and other officials during a meeting.
Some parties try to gain strength through regional powers or Israel, but such efforts cannot succeed.”Protesters in Sweida carried Israeli flags and renewed calls for autonomy in the province.
“Sweida witnessed violations from all sides, including some by members of Syria’s army and security services,” he said.
Sharaa also addressed talks with the Kurdish-led autonomous administration in Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) the north and northeast.
