AL-HOL CAMP, Syrian Kurdistan,— More than 800 Iraqi citizens left the Al-Hol camp in northeast Syria on Thursday, according to the camp’s administration. The departures mark the latest in a series of transfers from the facility, which houses relatives of suspected Islamic State fighters. Camp director Jihan Hanan told AFP that “approximately 850 people are leaving today.” She noted that nearly 10,000 Iraqis have departed the camp since January in 11 separate rounds. Al-Hol is the largest such camp in the region and has long been criticized for harsh living conditions. The Islamic State group captured large areas of Syria and Iraq in 2014.
