SULAIMANI,– Security authorities in Sulaimani said Thursday they have arrested two men suspected of taking part in the shooting of Kurdish journalist and activist Hemin Mamand earlier this week. The Sulaimani Asayish Directorate reported in a statement that the incident took place September 2, 2025 in the Aqari neighborhood, where Mamand was shot twice by assailants on a motorcycle. The warrant was issued by judicial order under Article 31/406 of the Iraqi Penal Code, officials confirmed. Officials noted that Mamand is receiving treatment in a hospital for his injuries.
