SULAIMANI,- The Metro Center for Journalists’ Rights and Advocacy on Sunday denounced raids carried out against local and international organizations in Sulaimani, calling them violations of international humanitarian law. According to Metro, security personnel seized cash boxes containing project funds, in addition to mobile phones, laptops, cameras, passports, and other belongings of staff. Metro Center was founded in August 2009 by Kurdish journalists and human rights advocates with support from the U.S.-based Institute for War and Peace Reporting. Its work has also received backing from Norwegian People’s Aid, International Media Support, the Gulf Center for Human Rights, the U.S. State Department, Internews, and the International Republican Institute.
