A Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ebute-Metta has ordered the case file of a National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) member, Shamusideen Oladiti, to be forwarded to the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, following widespread public outrage over a viral video of his alleged assault. Oladiti, a 55-year-old, was docked before Magistrate A. O. Akinde on a three-count charge bordering on unlawful homicide, conspiracy, and grievous assault. Ramon later died from the injuries at Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina. Although the charges were read in court, Oladiti’s plea was not taken. The Magistrate Akinde therefore directed that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) within 30 days for advice on prosecution and subsequently adjourned the case to October 28, 2025.
