Moussa Laarif, a member of Rabat’s city council and the Moroccan Liberal Party (PML), resigned from his council seat in a letter on Tuesday in solidarity with youth-led protests sweeping Morocco, he shared on Facebook. He cited growing public frustration over unemployment, rising living costs, and weak public services in health and education. He affirmed his commitment to serving Morocco and its citizens from outside the council through all possible civic avenues. The protests, organized by the Moroccan Youth Voice movement, began Saturday and continued through September 28, in major cities including Rabat, Casablanca, and Tangier. Demonstrators sought to address persistent shortcomings in public services, particularly in education, healthcare, and employment.
