The assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk brought this reality into sharp relief. In much of Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Eastern Europe, socially conservative views are not fringe but mainstream. In societies where every disagreement is cast in apocalyptic terms, political violence becomes easier to justify. To casually brand someone like Charlie Kirk with the language of fascism dishonors those who were imprisoned, tortured, and killed under actual fascist regimes. To do otherwise is to create a world in which words have no meaning, history has no weight, and political violence becomes easier to justify.
