(EDITOR’S NOTE: Rivertown Review writer Alexa Chipman recently attended a special screening of the documentary “The Eagle Obsession,” presented at the Los Angeles “Space: 1999” convention, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic television series.
“I was taken with it immediately from seeing the very first episode,” Morris commented, thinking back to his childhood.
This documentary, which recently made its way to the Toronto Film Festival, examines the anticipation of an idyllic future in space that gave way to the soul-crushing reality of our current situation here on Earth.
The documentary uses nostalgic, vibrant animation, clips from the original show and, of course, many shots of eagles flying through space to transition between chapters.
Someday we will find a way to be accepting and compassionate, whether here on Earth or on the moon.
