HUSTISFORD, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin are investigating after a village treasurer was arrested on allegations of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars in public funds. In September, the Village of Hustisford contacted the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office to report suspected theft and embezzlement. Hopfinger was taken into custody on Sept. 29 at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. She is being referred for charges of misconduct in public office and theft by virtue of employment greater than $10,000 but less than $100,000. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt commended Hustisford officials for spotting the discrepancies and acting quickly.
