ACL through the lens: How photography captures Austin’s spirit
['Elie Brunson', 'Senior Life Arts Reporter']
The Daily Texan
Through the lens, ACL serves as a way for photographers to capture the contrast between Austin’s fast-paced growth and its roots as a cultural hub for unhindered self-expression since 2002.
ACL’s main stage consistently showcases the city’s growth and establishes a signature element in ACL photography.
While larger-than-life photos of stages featuring some of the world’s biggest artists are captured, intimate interactions and memorable, messy memories also define ACL photography.
“You try to capture the entirety of the image of ACL,” Tauber said.
Despite the festival’s growth and the evolving Austin skyline behind the main stage, the audience and their energy remain a constant in ACL photography, regardless of whether a major or minor artist is performing.
