At 11:23pm on Monday, August 25, Southbourne Coastguard said it was was tasked alongside Poole Coastguard Rescue Team and Poole RNLI Lifeboat, Swanage RNLI Lifeboat, Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 175, Dorset Police, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) to reports of a person in the water near Bournemouth Pier. On arrival, the Southbourne Coastguard team worked closely with Dorset Police, SWASFT and DWFRS were also in attendance assisting with the search. Coastguard Rescue Teams and partner agencies carried out extensive searches from Bournemouth Pier along the shoreline towards Westcliff, Alum Chine, Boscombe, and Durley Chine. The search was supported on the water by Poole Lifeboat and Swanage Lifeboat, as well as from the air with Coastguard Rescue Helicopters. The casualty was safely recovered by the lifeboat and transferred to Poole Lifeboat station to an awaiting Ambulance.
