Two people have since been arrested in connection with the incident, in which the driver fled the scene after hitting the child, who was a pedestrian. Dorset Police received a report at 11.38am on Monday September 22, of a collision involving a white BMW 118i Sport and a pedestrian in Holdenhurst Road. The pedestrian – an eight-year-old boy – was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to life-changing injuries. Following enquiries, the vehicle was located and recovered, and a 36-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman – both from Reading in Berkshire – were arrested on suspicion of driving offences. They have been released on police bail as enquiries are ongoing.
