This was the start of the “Boat Train,” a meticulously planned railway journey that would become a poignant prologue to one of history’s most profound tragedies. This train was designed to match the grandeur of the Titanic itself, featuring ornate fittings, elegant dining cars, and plush compartments. Perhaps the most unique and compelling aspect of the Titanic boat train is the incredible tale of two of its very own carriages that, against all odds, survived. After the tragedy of the Titanic, the carriages continued to serve. The discovery of the carriages led to the formation of the Titanic Boat Train Heritage Trust, a partnership between the British Titanic Society and the London & South Western Railway Carriage Group.
