Over 20 Million People Facing Famine In War-Torn Sudan, Says UN Fact-Finding Mission(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The United Nations (UN) Fact-finding mission in Sudan has said that the war in that country is intensifying with devastating consequences for civilians. The group also noted that over 20 million people are facing famine and are in desperate need of assistance in the war torn country. Expert Member, UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, Prof. Joy Ngozi Ezeilo, stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen on Thursday. She said over 20 million people are currently facing famine in the country “and are in desperate need of assistance. Justice must be prioritized in peace agreements, addressing the absence of accountability that has been recognized as a key driver of conflict in Sudan.
