The Punjab government has kicked off a province-wide crackdown against smoke-emitting vehicles to combat worsening smog levels.
Traffic DIG Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has directed all Chief Traffic Officers and District Traffic Officers to ensure that unfit vehicles are barred from highways.
Officials noted that the number of vehicles linked to smog has surged by 240 percent this year, highlighting the urgency of immediate action.
This crackdown comes at a critical time when Punjab faces record-high smog incidents.
Experts believe such enforcement measures are necessary to restore cleaner air and reduce the health risks associated with unchecked vehicular emissions.
