An Alabama State University dance team became the center of controversy during Saturday’s football matchup with Florida A&M University after an on-air remark drew immediate backlash. The comment came as the Honey Beez exited the field following their halftime performance inside Bragg Memorial Stadium. He praised the Honey Beez and the Mighty Marching Hornets for their countless rehearsal hours and “show-stopping” performances that showcase Alabama State pride. Shortly afterward, Florida A&M University President Marva Johnson issued a public apology to Alabama State, the Honey Beez, and Hornet supporters. “On behalf of Florida A&M University, I extend my deepest and sincerest apologies to the Honey Beez, the Mighty Marching Hornets, President Quinton Ross, and the entire Alabama State University community,” she wrote.
