Grape Day Festival recalls glory days of city’s history
['David Ross']
Escondido Times-Advocate
The Escondido Grape Day Festival, presented by Escondido History Center and Brothers of 6, will be held Saturday, September 13, beginning at noon.
She explained how the origin of the Grape Day Festival was the Bond Burning Day in 1905 when the City of Escondido paid off the bond for the Bear Valley Dam—which today is called Lake Wohlford Dam.
To commemorate that event, three years later the city first held the Grape Day Festival in September 1908, “which has since become a community staple,” said Castañeda.
In addition, the Escondido History Center will conduct oral histories for Latinos in Escondido.
Grape Day Park is located at 321 North Broadway.
