Three North-East stations fared even worse with 5.9% of stops at Hartlepool railway station being cancelled before their arrival, 5.8% at Gateshead MetroCentre and the same percentage at Sunderland. The region overall also had the worst train cancellation rate - 4.5% - higher than any other region. City Thameslink, in London, had the worst record of any individual station with 7.7% of train stops being cancelled. Michael Solomon Williams, from the Campaign for Better Transport, said the three million cancelled stops in Britain which occurred between August 18 last year and August 16 was “unacceptable”.
