A worker for a tree service company was killed in DeLand this week when he was hit by a falling tree trunk on the job. The victim was confirmed by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office to be a 22-year-old man. After he looked back up to begin his work, the victim reportedly walked over from a work truck to the area underneath where the cutting was to occur. He was then struck when the tree trunk dropped down onto him. An investigation by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office determined that the death was accidental in nature.
