President Javier Milei will travel to Paraguay next Tuesday (September 16) for a bilateral meeting with his counterparty Santiago Peña and attend an edition of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), according to reports. A Milei-Peña meeting would be their third meeting since Argentina’s President took office in December 2023. The trip comes after Milei cancelled a planned visit to Madrid this weekend, where he had been scheduled to appear at an event hosted by the far-right Spanish party Vox. Following the government’s heavy defeat in Buenos Aires Province elections last weekend, the President has opted instead for a shorter journey to Asunción. Milei will likely attend a joint honorary session of Paraguay’s Congress on Tuesday morning, convened by Senate head Basilio ;Bachi’ Núñez.
