Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has become the first hospital in the Middle East to successfully implant a pioneering technology to treat a serious and life-threatening heart and blood vessel condition. The Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis (TBE) device is used to treat complex Type B aortic dissection, a condition where a tear forms in the inner layer of the body's main artery (the aorta) and affects blood flow. This minimally invasive approach helped the patient avoid significant risks such as stroke or nerve damage. Without treatment, complicated type B dissection leads to 25-30 percent in hospital mortality if left untreated. The device’s branched design eliminates that step, achieving technical success rates above 95 percent and 30‑day mortality as low as 2-3 percent.
