North Somerset allotments and play areas earmarked for transfer
['Jack Roberts']
North Somerset Times | News
The transfers are part of North Somerset Council’s new Local Devolution Programme (LDP), which aims to give communities more control over assets and services by transferring assets and/or management from the unitary authority.
Cllr Mike Bell, leader of North Somerset Council, said: "We recognise local communities – and their parish and town councils - are often best placed to run local services and facilities.
"This is an ambitious programme and I am grateful to the town and parish councils who have worked with us to drive this forward.
Town and parish councils have already highlighted assets they could take on, including parks, community halls, and litter bins.
Transferred services will remain funded through local taxation but under the direct control of town and parish councils.
