Serious concern has gripped the residents of Nangalamora area in Sivasagar district following the alarming condition of the Desang River bridge linking Sepon with Sunpura. The bridge, which partially collapsed on January 16, 2022, had since been closed to heavy vehicles. A new bridge scheme was taken up during 2022–23, with an outlay of about ₹11 crore. Meanwhile, river erosion has further endangered the structure, rendering the road wholly unfit for public use. The public has urged the department concerned to take prompt and decisive steps in the matter.
