A Virginia man who shot his girlfriend and then lied numerous times about what happened to her once he brought her to a hospital will remain behind bars for the foreseeable future. Nguyen took the mother of two to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, where Fairfax County Police Department officers made contact with him. The investigation continued, and detectives "determined Nguyen shot LaPorta" inside the vehicle he used to bring her to the hospital. "Kate should still be with us today," Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano said in the statement, per WRC. Prosecutors are said to have counted more than 400 lies that Nguyen told during the investigation into his girlfriend's death.
